Declan has demonstrated outstanding academic performance achieving 10A's and one B in higher level subjects in the 2007 Junior Certificate Exams. The judges felt he has presented a solid application of academic excellence and demonstrated variety through his achievements.
Declan was nominated in the Irish EU Science Olympiad as well as a mathematical in the enrichment programme in NUIG. He was also nominated for a transition year Physics programme in Trinity College and received the Brother Keating Science award. Declan won the junior individual technology category at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in 2006 with a project on "Improving efficiency in a domestic oil central heating system".
He also passed grade 4 piano and received first class honours in grade nine speech and drama. Declan also received the Edmund Rice award for his work in the community
Declans life dream is to become an engineer and to either be happy doing that or to have the courage to change.
